HUGH FRASER is a college English professor, novelist, trained Acupuncturist, and a former Top Secret International Courier Officer for the U.S. Army. He holds degrees in Business, English, Nutrition and Naturopathy. His goal is to bring to the reader fast-paced, thought-provoking novels that enlighten, engage, and entertain. He believes in characters that jump off the page and exotic settings that stimulate the reader's curiosity. Combining ancient wisdom, knowledge, and history with both modern and forgotten mythologies, he seeks to immerse the reader in new perspectives about the planet, about consciousness, and about survival. He says, with absolute conviction, "We learn about ourselves by reflecting on new ideas, new ways of seeing the same history, and new challenges to our imaginations - everything moves, like the river, toward a great ocean of infinite possibilities." He lives in Reno, NV with his wife Louise and their three West Highland Terriers.

Excerpts from Interviews with the Novelist Hugh Fraser

ABOUT THE ORACLE REBORN (formerly titled The Last Oracle):

Q: Before we talk about your novel, The Oracle Reborn, what novelists are you most like?

A: Well, novelists like Dan Brown, Steve Berry, or James Rollins are similar in that we all write about history, myths, or legends in some way. I like to include a strong "wisdom" perspective for the reader, a perspective that says something about humankind's future as well as the individual's potential to claim the power of awareness -- to know who he or she is, to know their destiny beyond this life, and to know about things hidden and mysterious.

Q: You sound like The History Channel or The Discovery Channel?

A:  That's one way to put it.

Q: In The Oracle Reborn, it seems as if you believe personal prophecy is a real possibility?

A: Yes, but there's a yin and a yang to every oracle-prophecy. You must know yourself and think through what you've heard. If the oracle-prophecy requires you to steal freedom from another individual, or if that individual will experience great loss, or if the action has no underpinnings of love, then you better hesitate and reconsider what you've been told before you act.

Q: Why did you write this particular novel?

A: Because there's a story here, a story about ancient wisdom, a story about a larger, forgotten history, one that has a message for all of us-- Know Thyself.

Q: Personally, what are some of your interests?

A: Well, I like writing novels, and I enjoy teaching college students about literature, also teaching them how to be more effective writers. I' have a strong interest in healing. Most do not understand that the real future of healing does not include drugs. I have training and several degrees in alternative health. I also enjoy interesting details about history, especially recent archeological discoveries.

Q: I liked the pace of this novel. Very, very fast. Is there a style here?

A: Yes. I call it cinematic fiction. Suspense and scene-focused. Plenty of action. Small details to maintain momentum and to interest the reader. I like to include history as well as the world's mythologies, including legends. Doing this helps introduce the wisdom of universal principles, the enduring insights into life. There's much to consider in The Oracle Reborn -- ideas about living, ideas about politics, ideas about religion and spirituality. The mysteries that entice us -- Area 51, The Book of Life, the Delphic Oracle -- are all present in my novel.

ABOUT THE ALIEN ORACLES:

Q: The Alien Oracles tackles multiple themes. Which of these do you feel is the most important?

A: Depends on your point of view and interests. If you are fascinated by alien intervention, then the novel offers some perspective. If you are interested in religious prophecy, the novel presents an arresting idea about The Second Coming. If you like to read about The Knights Templar, then the novel will draw you in, and if puzzles and enigmas are what fascinate you, there’s plenty to read about.

Q: Is there a central point to the novel?

A: Multiple points, especially this point: We live in a universe where few of the answers are known, in spite of science, relogion, and belief. And it’s important for an author to investigate and speculate about the mysteries of the universe.

Q: You seem to favor powerful plots and dramatic scenes.

A: That’s what drives reader interest. Readers today want to be pulled into the action and they want that action to be sustained. They want a good read. They also want suspense. What “comes next” keeps them reading.

Q: Your first novel had a female character as a centerpiece. Again—

A: Another strong female lead, because that’s where the mystery is.

Q: You employ legend and myth in your novels. Why?

A: Because legend, myth and even fairy tales are compelling. They are from history. They reflect humankind’s search for answers and hope. They add multiple dimensions to my books. Using these allows me to inform the reader in a variety of ways. In the end it’s all about conveying meaning … and making it interesting. There’s also something highly inspirational and intriguing about a legend or a myth.

Q: Any new projects?

A: Yes. An end time's novel entitled The Omega Oracle is finished, plus I just completed a novel entitled The Mirror of God. Again, I expect readers to enjoy the conundrums and profound mystery of these adventure-thrillers.
